1st Shots

Monday was Caden's appointment to get his 1st shots. After much debate we decided to get the normal shots and not to worry about all the buzz on effects from the vaccines. It's all too easy to get swept up in the controversy, and I figure Nate and I got them and we are fine, plus God is watching out for our little one, and I'd rather trust Him than fear something that is probably mostly hype. When I thought about it, I realized how lucky we are here in America to have vaccines available to us, unlike many countries where they are not and parents would do anything to get their child protected. Because we have the luxury, we now have the option to choose to not get our kids covered. But what happens if we all do this and certain diseases kill again? It's already happened in certain towns. Crazy. If this comes across as my opinion, I apologize. I don't know what I think but I guess writing it out helps me explore it. All I know is that nothing about links to autism or anything else has been proven.

Two Month Old!

6 weeks




Wow it's been waaaay too long since my last post. I have a couple of drafts...but I never get to finish them due to Caden waking up etc. I have almost finished my birth story so I will be posting that soon.



Caden is 2 months old on Monday! I can't believe it! He is getting very big, he is probably about 13 pounds now, and is starting to grow out of the 3 month sized outfits. He is also in size 2 diapers now. He has started to smile a lot, especially at Nate and I, and at his mobile above the changing table on the playard. I am still nursing, though I mainly pump so Nate can feed him, I know how many ounces hes getting, and so going out and about is easier for me. I am trying to minimize the pumping now and nurse more often...that's my goal.



As far as sleeping through the night...it's going much much better! He goes to bed at about midnight, and sleeps for 5 hours, then is up for 30 minutes to an hour to eat/get changed...then he sleeps for another 2 to 3 hours. So it's really good progress! I make sure he eats about 6 ounces starting at 11pm so that his belly is really full. He also gets a bath every other night which he seems to enjoy (except for the getting out part, he hates being cold!)


6 weeks



The most recent change is that things hold Caden's attention for much longer. I can put him in his swing and he will stare at the mobile for 15-20 minutes totally awake. He is so aware! He watches Nate walk around the room, turning his head to follow him. He can hold his head upright really well now, and bears weight on those strong legs of his. He kicks and moves his arms about like crazy, and likes to hold conversations with me, even if it's all gurgles and coos.



On Monday he gets his shots, I am not looking forward to it, though I am excited to know his new measurements.
